Deleted Word documents from pen drive?!?! HELP!

I have recently lost all my NVQ Work from using an XP version of Word on our
new laptop running windows Vista. It has not even sent to the bin to enable a
restore. When I click on the recentl file The message 'The item 'NVQ1.doc'
thatthis shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will
no longer work properly.'

The Word installed was from a windows XP version. Do we have a virus or is
it because I am using Word XP version on a Vista Machine?

Please help I need to recover this for 10/5/07.....

Paul

Have you moved the "NVQ1.doc" file to a new location?
Was the file on a pen drive that is now plugged into a different USB port?
Have you gone to the 'FILE - OPEN' MENU and looked for the file on the available drives?

In Word, the "recent files" section always looks in the last place the file was stored. If you put
your pen drive in a different USB port, it can be assigned a different drive letter. Thus the
'recent files' location is not the same place.

Sounds like you have a lot to learn about windows file management and how to use Word.
It does not sound like a Windows Vista or MS Word problem.

Repeat after me 100 times: "First, I will save my Word documents to my hard
drive and later copy them to my pen drive. Second, I will move the document
from the pen drive to my hard drive and them open them in Word."

Word creates several files during your creation and modification of a
document. When placed on a pen drive, it gets messed up.
