Vista - Outlook 2007

My OS is Vista Home Premium.
I purchased and installed Office Outlook 2007.
I chose the academic version.
I wanted a Word proceesor that would handle the many .doc files that were
generated with the 2002 Word and I wanted Outlook 2007 that would work with
Visa.


Where should i look to gain access two these two programs?

I opened the installation disc and I see the two files I'm interested in,
"Office.en-us" and "Outlook.en-us".

The installation disc doesn't add any desktop shortcuts or provide any
explaination about the installation.
I looked through "All Programs" an didn't see either of the two in question.
i went to the installed windows folder and didn't see anything that looked
like what I was after.
With my 2002 version it was easy to find.

I removed and reloaded MS Office

This time I found MS Office listed in"All Programs"
I pulled it to the Desktop
Now I have a MS Office Shortcut


Clicked on it and I got a screen listing the following three,

Microsoft Office Tools
Activation Assistant for MS Office
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

Clicked on Activation Ass...

Got:
MS Office Activation Assistant window
l requested a Trial Actvationt Key online
MS Activation Assistant was unable to detect a 2007 MS Office release.

Now what?

I went back one window and clicked on MS Office Outlook 2007

Seems to be working. It then asks for the Product Key which I entered and I
got the green check mark meaning all is well, right?

Clicked "continue"
"Complete Success"

WOW I can't believe it.

It automatically started moving accounts, mail, etc
After ientered the passwords Outlookl seems to be working.

I WENT BACK TO Activation Assistant to enter the purchased key and i got the
same answer as before, MS Activation Assistant was unable to detect a 2007 MS
Ofice release.

Now what is wrong?

When you install Office 2007 in Windows Vista, it creates a program group in
All Programs named Microsoft Office. Click Start, click All Programs, and
then look for the Microsoft Office folder. Word and Outlook should be in
there.

Also, when you install Office, it should have changed your default mail
program to Outlook, meaning that it should show up right on the Start menu.

If you don't see these shortcuts anywhere, I'm guessing that the install
didn't finish properly and you need to reinstall Office.

outlook is not included in office student. see link :

Walter,
In All Programs I did find MS Office and in it was Outlook 2007 and Tools
but no Office.
I tried running 'repair' and that didn't help.
Outlook is running fine.
I never got an install program generated shortcut. I found Outlook.exe and
generated one, but i never found a Office executable file.

Walter,

This Notebook came with MS Works installed.
Could this be stopping the installation of Word or Office?

I took out MS Works and that didn't help.
After rebooting I remove the MSO installation, restarted again, then
reinstalled.

Like you said i found MS Office listed in All Programs. There were only two
sub-folders, MS Office Outlook and MS Office Tool.

I checked for updates and I found five.
One was KB .....173 for Word. It installed that update.
Why would it do that unless it believes I have Word installed?

I'm going to look through the MS folder in Program Files to see if I can
find Word.exe or anything with .exe that comes close.
It's about 11pm so I'll check back in the morning.

If you purchased a stand alone version of Outlook, it does not include any other Office applications(e.g. Word). One needs to purchase and Office version that includes Word or an Office version that includes Word and Outlook.

Only the MsWorks suite includes Word.
