i have this microprocessor in my PC

and the qustion is ..... this microprocessor has speed 2.4 GH

is this speed for the microprocessor or the core

i mean this microprocessor has 2 core so is the speed of the microprocessor

is 4.8 GH or 2.4 GH

bassam,
2.4 GH. Applications programs that take advantage of dual core processors
will get more work done, but they are few and far between at this date.

Each core runs at the assigned clock speed of the complete package (what you
are calling the microprocessor) - 2.4GHz in your case

This is correct you have two processor cores within one package.
Also both of those cores will be being used by the operating system and lots
of applications such as Office that will take advantage of multiple
processors or multiple processor cores.

Your CPU (and mine, as I have an E6600 as well) has two cores, which means
that it is actually two CPUs in one package. Only it is actually better
than having a twin processor computer, in this case, as the 4MB L2 cache is
shared between the two cores. However, what you fundamentally have is 2 x
2.4Ghz processors. While not many applications are multi-threaded at this
time, it still is very useful when multitasking.

Re: qustion about Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

I just got the same processor as y ou guys did and it works great- until i
try to use any games that require 3-d graphics, then the processors (both)
are maxed out. all my drivers are up to date, and I can't find how to fix
this problem anywhere. your help is greatly appreciated

You might want to check Event Viewer under Administrative Tools in Control
Panel for a more detailed report on the crash as it might give some clues as
to the source of the issue.
