| | Messages missing from folders, email broken I am a message packrat.. 12000+ imported from OE. Vista's Windows Mail took it all in, worked fine for several days before McAfee tried to scan and found several infected messages, and tried to remove them. Initially, all messages disappeared from the folders, but the (# unread) still indicated the presence of messages! I have deleted the contents of the Windows Mail folder, it did not help. I have used WMutil.exe to reset the database, and tried the other buttons as well. The program still will not send or receive, and the following messages appear: An unknown error has occured. Account:'Carolina RoadRunner', Server: 'pop-server.carolina.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:0x800C0148 An unknown error has occured. Account:'Google Mail', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:995, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:0x800C0148 Note: I am roaming (not on my home network). This shouldn't prevent downloading messages, but it might stop outgoing messages, right? Anyhow, I am curious as to why the local folders view still shows unread messages and empty folders even after I blew away all the data files. HELP! Anything else I can try? |
