Vista - Help! lost my aero taskbar appearance

I have recently run a free space wipe and when I switched the pc back on, I
have lost my aero appearance/taskbar, folders etc etc. The windows
background is there but I only have the basic windows classic (white..ish)
taskbar and not the transparent aero. Where has it gone? I have tried to
restore it from display settings but it wont load. How do I get it back?

what 3rd party software did you use to wipe your free disk space?
