| | Zip file on flash drive slows system; 100% CPU I archived my email in a 350 MB zip file that contains 82,000 files. When I move this zip file to a flash drive the system slows down hugely and Process Explorer shows 100% CPU use, with a large fraction being explorer.exe. The slowing lasts at least half an hour. When I insert the flash drive again I get another extended period of 100% CPU use. Without this large zip file on the flash drive there are no such problems after inserting the flash drive. In Indexing Options, when the flash drive is attached, it is un-checked. Can someone explain what is going on? Is there some way to prevent this from happening? |
