not starting correctly

I need help, I have a compaq presario notebook, which came with windows
vista, when I went to start it up this morning it came up with the message of
it hadn't been shut down correctly and gave me the option to start up in one
of the 3 safe mode options or start normaly, so I chose to start up normaly
and so it started, by showing the loading bar then went to the windows
symbol, then flashed a picture of my desktop then the screen went black, so I
restarted several times with the same results, I then tried booting in safe
mode and it displayed the Icons and everything with the safe mode showing in
the 4 corners of the screen, and stayed just fine so I then restarted my
computer again, and it did the same thing (just not the start up options safe
mode, normal....ect....) it did the load screen with the bar, the windows
symbol, showed my desktop for a few seconds and went black, any ideas on what
I can do? It worked fine las night and I don't know what to do, I appreciate
any and all help.

Re: not starting correctly

Hi Jake. If you installed anything last night before shutting it down, start
up in safe mode and remove whatever you installed (either hardware or
software).

If you didn't install anything, I would suggest calling the laptop
manufacturer.

Thanks,
Gloria
