Vista - cannot switch to 3d windows

Hi
I cannot switch to 3d windows. It's set in 2d flat panel mode.
Also when I lay my cursor on the bottom toolbar I don't seem to get the
small picture of the internet sites I'm veiwing any more.
Please help.
Vista is great but keeping me up late with lots of problems

It sounds like you don't have Aero Glass. Has this ever worked?

it has worked before.
but I have since reinstalled vista.
what should i do

Do you have a Windows Aero WDDM video card ?
