Appearance

I downloaded something that wasn't compatible with windows vista so it said
it was going to change my appearance to Windows vista basic. I removed the
program and now I cant get it back to the other settings.

Try right-clicking on the desktop and see if you can change your
setting back to where they were.

Hi Bonnie--

1) Rt. Click Desktop>Personalize>Windows Color and Appearance>Enable
Transparence>Click Hyperlink>Open Clasic Appearance>Color Scheme>Windows
Aero>Apply.

This should work.

Additional Steps if Needed:

2) Regedit:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition

Value Data: 1

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy

Value Data: 2


3) Click on the Start Menu and search "cmd". When it finds it, hold down
Ctrl&Shift and press Enter to enter Command Prompt as Administrator.

type the following:

net stop uxsms

(press Enter)

net start uxsms

(press Enter)
