| | How to change file order in Vista Program menu... Anybody know how? I could do it in XP, as well as the "classic" menu option in Vista. But, I want to change them in the regular Vista menu. Oddly enough, you can change the order of folders though. On a side note - I thought the group folders would open up whenever hovered your mouse over it, but it doesn't. Is this not the case? The only thing that opens up for me is when you hover your mouse over "All Programs" in the start menu. |

| | RE: How to change file order in Vista Program menu... Ok, I just figured the file order thing out, but not the "hover" feature. By the way, I do have "Open submenus when I pause on them with the mouse pointer" enabled. "cpu_expert" wrote: > Anybody know how? | | RE: How to change file order in Vista Program menu... Hey user "cpu_expert". I'm having the exact same problem and you later reported you solved the problem yes? I used to be able to sort my start menu programs in any order I wanted, but ever since I've been using Vista, I can sort all the folders and shortcuts in whatever order I want, but when I restart my PC and login back to Windows, it just sorts them back the way they were. Please tell me what you did to fix this problem. "cpu_expert" wrote: > Anybody know how? I could do it in XP, as well as the "classic" menu option > in Vista. Find the tick box for Sort by Name. With patience there is always a way. -- Ian |

| | Re: How to change file order in Vista Program menu... Thank your user "Ian Betts" for your assistance, however I am already well aware of the Sort by Name checkbox and it doesn't do anything. My programs menu is just slapped together in some jumbled order that refuses to be changed. Or rather as I stated, the order sorting changes I make are not saved after I've logged out or restarted my PC. I suspect that information is somehow saved in the registry somewhere, but I would have no idea where. |
