| | Works 8.0 Doesn't open all files after Vista installation. Brandnew installation of vista + works 8.0, after copying the old files back from a previous computer, it only opens certain files. If I go to the windows dsafe mode, I am able to open them all, which of course really bugs me. As far as I can see I am running as an Admin, yet I can't shake the feeling that this is some new right-related issue. The error report doesn't help me much. It states that "Microsoft works 8 doesn't work anymore, a solution can't be given at this time". I could really use some help here, and thank you in advance, E. (Hope this is the right forum, if not, mods please move this question to the appropiate board please.) |

| | Re: Works 8.0 Doesn't open all files after Vista installation. Try taking ownership of the files/folders you copied from another machine. Right click, Properties, Security Tab, Advanced, Owner Tab, Edit Button. Then back on the main Security Tab, make sure you give yourself Full Permissions. -- Maxwell Bluemeanie ---- "E van Delta" <E van Delta@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3BA9BFAB-5E78-4C90-A5E3-E4C13D6A274E@microsoft.com... > > > Brandnew installation of vista + works 8.0, after copying the old files > back > from a previous computer, it only opens certain files. Are these all Works 8 files, in other words, files created in Works 8 or are they files created in previous Works versions. If the files are from previous Works versions, you can open some previous file versions by going to the File menu, selecting File Open and selecting that version under "Files of Type." If these files were created in Works 8, try taking ownership of the folder in which the files are located. Right click the folder, select properties, go to the Security tab, click Advanced and go to the Owner tab. If that doesn't resolve it, you might want to take this to one of the Works newsgroups. -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |
