| Guest | Shortcuts not working for some programs Some of the shortcuts I have for programs do not work. It seems to only be for certain program shortcuts in the start menu pinned area and the recently used list, along with the quick launch.. whereas if i have a shortcut on the desktop it works. Also if I go to the all programs menu in the start menu then i can open it that way. I have tried deleting the shortcuts and recreating them, that has not worked. I have tried creating a new profile, still does not work. I have tried going in to safe mode.. still nothing. And its only for certain programs. I have had this happen on three seperate computers with different versions of Vista. One was a laptop, two a desktop. Nothing seems to be the same between them. The weird thing is that I can not find any posts on the net about this issue. So I finally decided to post my own question about it. So anyone got any ideas for me? |

| Guest | RE: Shortcuts not working for some programs I have exactly the same problem. None of my attempts to fix it have worked. I would like to know a solution, too. It appears to be a bug in Vista. "iblob" wrote: > Some of the shortcuts I have for programs do not work. | Guest | RE: Shortcuts not working for some programs I think this is similar to the problem I have, and I've somehow managed to pinpoint it : When a toolbar has buttons in the extended part (that is, the popup opened by clicking on the ">>" symbol at the right of the toolbar), clicking one of these buttons produces a strange behavior : a window briefly appears and disappears, which seems to be an explorer window, before the shortcut is executed. But most importantly, the shortcut isn't executed properly, and in particular all options that might have been passed in the command for the shortcut are ignored. To make it clear that this isn't a problem of the shortcut itself, when the toolbar is resized so that the shortcut button appears directly in the visible toolbar area, then the shortcut is executed fine (ie. the command is executed with all the options) This can get very annoying when you actually want to use these ">>" extensions to store shortcuts in a hierarchical way, e.g. icons in subfolders, as this bug makes it impossible to use commands with options. This is definitely reproducible. I'm using Vista Business but it's probably the same for all editions. I'm suspecting some interference from explorer there (probably due to the ">>" extension using the explorer to build the folder tree). Let's hope this will be heard (and fixed) ! Best regards, Romain |
