In Control Panel > Default Programs is there an option to set WinDVD as your
default? Does WinDVD have an option itself to set it as default?

Re: how to not make windows media center default dvd player!?

I believe that the programmers of WinDVD would have had to write there program
to register with the Default Programs applet, so not really so weird.

Try reinstalling the WinDVD, it might help.
