Mysterious CD Drive

I have Vista Home Premium and when I open MYCOMPUTER it shows a CD
Drive (K which I do not have on my system. I do have a couple of
DVD drives which show up as well as two hard drives, a floppy drive
and a multifunction card reader which shows up as four separate
removable drives.

Also when I go into Computer Management/Storage, there is no drive k:
there.

Could some application be setting up a virtual CD drive?

A USB flashdrive with the U3 software installed will appear as a
CD rather than a USB drive. There may be other similar cases,
but I don't know.

My external HD is labeled as K on BackUp and Restore. Do you have an
external drive or device attached to a USB or FireWire?

I have unplugged everything that is external with no change. I have
my suspicions about the multi-function card reader but I think I would
have noticed that earlier. I'll have to open the case, unplug it and
see what happens.
