| | "Clear Recent Items List" option - not there! http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/9752/wtfhy8.jpg I have a friend who right-clicks Recent Items, but doesn't get the option Clear Recent Items List. Why? How can he solve this? |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: "Clear Recent Items List" option - not there! System folders decided to take a break?! All the small bugs that came along makes me think Microsoft forgot to test this damm thing out. So much obvious things that are SO annoying... they are making me go to the edge so often because everytime I think my system is "ready for use" I find another one of them... ooo yes, and don't even get me started with NVIDIA, both my motherboard and vga are from them and I only have pain to share regarding their drivers... Anyway, this time my system folders got scrambled. Pictures, videos, documents and specialy Recent Items decided they are no longer a part of the system folders (they probably ran away in shame of this operational system) and instead, turned into regular ones... no special icons or anything related. Normaly I wouldn't mind much since I do not use them to store my media (I like to save these files on another partition) but since my Recent folder have been transformed to nothing I can't right click/clear from the start menu, and THAT annoys me. Running SFC does nothing (like it ever did anything good ¬¬) and trying to use shadowcopys is a waste as well. The only thing that comes out from M$ support is "reestore your system to a prior point and reinstal your (right now, 31) programs"... all I can say to them is /cry Anyway, I googled it a little and found that it might be related to the abscence of "desktop, ini" or whathever but I can't get it right... Any suggestions are welcome since I am about to trow this stupid thing on the sewer... SO MUCH trouble to get this stupid thing right... and I thought that spending 200US$ where going to make my life easier.. pff, If I shreded my life would be better right now, a "3D alt + tab" doesn't worth all the time I am wasting setting up this thing. /pissed Thanks in advance. PS: Sorry about the rants everywhere on my topic, I needed to let it out or I would burst. Last edited by *711; 07-26-2007 at 06:42 PM.. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: "Clear Recent Items List" option - not there! Ufff... another one done... here is my solution (more like a workarround but anyway, it did repair it): Right click the recent items menu option in Start Menu and select 'open location' (or whatever it's called) and delete the folder named 'recent' in the window that appears. In the Task Bar and Start Menu prefs editor, remove the tick in the Start Bar Tab under Privacy section (top box) and save. Recent Items menu will be gone. Enter this prefs editor again and put the tick back in the box removed above and save. Recent Items menu will be restored with the proper menu displayed on a right click. ----------------------- Curious to see what this god forsaken OS will trow at me next ^^ |
