Write down the information *precisely* as it appears. | | Re: Computer wont shutdown using Vista Once, and only once, I found that a defective reset button on a computer was stuck in a closed position. This caused the same problem. The only way the owner could turn off the PC was by cutting the power with the rear switch after the computer shut down, and before it began to reboot. A new switch solved the problem. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! | | Re: Computer wont shutdown using Vista I am serious here. What makes you think it is a operating system/Microsoft problem? There could be a shorted semi-conductor in the power supply that is keeping the computer from totally shutting down. It would be the same as having a physically stuck "on" switch. I would take your computer to a qualified technician, one who has the instruments to test power supplies - or at least one who could substitute in a P/S of known good quality for testing purposes. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) "Alan" <Alan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AB6830CA-E5D9-47C2-9845-9294D6089B7E@microsoft.com... >i really dont know what else to do > > ive updated all drivers, uninstalled the ony and only non-working driver, > my > network adapter <adapter still works tho?> could the card itself be > causing > this problem? i doubt it > > tried unplugging all devices from usb etc. > > only thing i havent done yet is upgraded my bios...anyone know where else > i > might be able to find some help? > > besides calling and paying microsoft... |
