| | Indexing is not running?? I must have turned it off somehow but that's what I see when I bring up the indeing options box. So I do a search in "HELP" for turn on indexing and it says: Can I turn the Windows search index on or off? No, the index can't be turned off or paused. heh heh Is there a way I can fix my non indexing Vista Home Prem.? The only buttons that I have that work on the indexing options screen is the CLOSE button, the Modify and Advanced buttons are greyed out. Thank You for any help! Bob |

| | Re: Indexing is not running?? Just something to check, in the Programs and Features control panel, in the Turn Windows Features On/Off sub-panel, mine shows "Indexing Service" as not checked, but indexing seems to be working. You might check that in yours. It actually was something I was going to look into, whether this feature is "the" indexing or something extra, why it wouldn't be on by default, etc. Tom On Jun 8, 9:12 pm, Bob <bobar...@wildblue.net> wrote: > I must have turned it off somehow but that's what I see when I bring up > the indeing options box. | | Re: Indexing is not running?? Read the description it gives you in the "Turn Windows Features On/Off" by placing the mouse over it (tooltip): "File indexing service that shipped in versions prior to Windows Vista. Provided as an optional feature for backwards compatibility only." | | Re: Indexing is not running?? I checked it and it didn't do anything, it's for prior releases or something. Still not indexing anyway. Thank you though, thought maybe you'd found the answer! ;o) Bob njem wrote: > Just something to check, in the Programs and Features control panel, > in the Turn Windows Features On/Off sub-panel, mine shows "Indexing > Service" as not checked, but indexing seems to be working. | | Re: Indexing is not running?? Yep, you got it right. Didn't do squat for my "not indexing" problem. Any ideas on a fix? If it can't be turned on or off how in the world did I turn it off? | | Re: Indexing is not running?? Tooltip. Oh. Too both obvious and subtle. I missed it.
