How can you delete the update uninstall files in Vista.

They were visible in XP but have been put elsewhere
in Vista.

Thanks!!

RE: OS Update uninstall files

Hey Keith,

Here are the steps to find your updates:

From Control Panel select Programs and Features.
On the left pane select the View installed updates option.
R-click on the update you want to uninstall and select Uninstall.

Good luck,
CM

I don't think that's not what the OP is asking. He wants to delete the
uninstall folders, not the updates themselves. To the OP, that's a good
question. I don't know where they are in Vista. You might want to post to
the Windows Update newsgroup.

Re: OS Update uninstall files

Thanks for the reply. You are correct that I
want to get rid of the uninstalls for things
updated. In XP they were folders in the
"Windows" folder prefaced with a
dollar sign ($). You could manually delete
them to free up space. And this is very
necessary on older XP installations as I
have seen well over a GB of these uninstall
folders. More than a hundred uninstall folders
for things the user will never need to uninstall.

I will see if I can post the question to the
group you mentioned.

Thanks again!!

You're welcome. If you get an answer could you post it here? Thanks
