| | Unable to boot from Vista DVD to repair installation After trying to install my MSOffice 2000 on my new Vista 64-bits machine, I was rewarded with a a blue screen crash, and both Safe Mode booting and Last Good config booting just end in new blue screen crashes, so I've tried to boot from the Vista DVD but that only ends with the Safe Mode menu being displayed again, so I'm unable to use the "Repair your computer" option in the installation menu on the DVD. Vista came pre-installed on the computer, but I have the DVD, so I should be able to fix the problem if only the DVD would boot into the installation menu. Does anyone here know how I can make it boot properly? Trond Ruud, Norway |

| Vista UE | Re: Unable to boot from Vista DVD to repair installation I think he is saying it crashes from DVD-Boot too. If that is the case? Open your box and take out every card but the Video card, and even take that out if you have an optional on-board card. Go into BIOS Setup and shut off all of your Serial ports and parallel ports. Set your memory speed to NORMAL and in the CPU Setup shut off, shut off the function in the CPU setup that allows +/- 5% deviation in Voltages (Spread Spectrum Modulated - Shut it OFF). Make sure that you are not overclocked, and then reboot and see if you can reboot to the regular OS. If you can, add your cards back in one at a time. If you still cannot, then check your CPU voltages. Make sure the RAM is compatible with the CPU and the Main Board. Take your hard drive out and try another hard drive, sometimes HD errors cause the Blue Screen o Death. And finally, WHEN the PC is rebooting and you do have the DVD in the drive, when the screen says "Booting from DVD/CD" and you see "..." - Press the ENTER key before 4 dots show up! |

| | Re: Unable to boot from Vista DVD to repair installation If he were booting from the Vista DVD he would not see the safe mode menu. Therefore, he is NOT booting from the DVD.
