Hello everyone, I have This clevo D900K case/Lap top, when I bought it it
came with Xp but it was Vista Ready,when I installed Vista the damn thing
won't turn off when I shut Down or Restart the system unless I keep the Power
Button Pressed for 5 seconds
Can Anyone help me?

Sounds like you have a driver that is crashing on shutdown and causing
the restart.

I would check the laptop manufacturers website and update any drivers
that may be available and see it the problem doesn't get resolved that
way first. If not, I would call their support since it should be under
warranty.

Hi Terry,

When I shut down or restart the laptop through windows everything powers
down inc the screen but the hdd keep working and the fans keep spinning.

I tried leaving it for quite a while about 20 mins and it restarted on it's
own.

There is no information on the manufacturers web site, and after reading
this forum I see a lot of other people are having this problem.

These problems seem to be inherent in the Clevo-based laptops when running
Vista. I have an Alienware M-7700 laptop which is identical to your unit and
I have experienced your EXACT problems in every aspect. No manner of
troubleshooting
managed to correct these problems. I may not be a wizard but I have been a
system administrator for a long time and also worked as a computer tech for
a few years. I know a few tricks but absolutely nothing worked with these
problems. If someone out there knows a solution, we would certainly like to
hear about it. In the meantime - I have formatted the drive(s)
and reinstalled WinXP Pro and SUSE Linux 10. NO ...NO ...problem at all with
these operating systems installed.
Not a cure for the problem(s) - but - a temporary solution ! ......
