Vista - Vista Wireless connection stopped working

I am running Vista Ultimate 64 (so it appears at least).

My office and home are surrounded by other wireless networks besides just my
own. I have been unable [all of a sudden] to connect or even show wireless
networks in the Connect To A Network window, even after refreshing. I've
checked everything I can think of from; the wireless switch on the front of
the HP dv9000 to the Bios. Including all web chats and MS as well as HP.

Tragically I had to Reset the this comptuer back to Manuf. settings [wipe it
out] and the Restore was never set up on this machine shortly after I
purchased it a couple of months ago. At the time I was unaware of that
feature so needless to say, there is nothing that can be done about setting
it back to the date it was last functioning properly at this point.

Here is what I know. [not entirely sure it’s the issue but this other guy
seemed to think so]. Going in through Start, Control Panel, Admin Tool, then
Services, click on the first on them hit “K� is how he showed me to get
there. Don’t recall which one of the other prompts/programs is supposed to go
before or after. But this is what it says:

the services description says: KeyIso <failed to read
description. Error Code:2>

Any ideas on where to go at this point to resolve this?

Not sure exactly what your problem is... take a look at this link for a

Thank you Lang, the issue is that I was able to connect [three weeks ago] to
wirelessly from my laptop and it would work anywhere. Now I can not even get
my computer to show ANY wireless networks around me [there are many]. So I
have tried almost everything I can think of and I am not able to get answers
from HP and now MS doesn't seem to have the correct answers either.

Bottom line: out of ideas on trying to get the wireless to again work.
[incidently, the ethernet connection works and so does the wireless network
with all other computers in both my home and office].

That sight seemed to discribe the KeyIso item but the error I recieved
doesn't seem to get addressed. Ideas?

Check the power save function for your computers adapter. I had major
problems until I set Windows not to power down my lan port and the wireless
port. One it did this I lost all connections and Windows showed no available
connections.

Well... if you can't see any wireless networks... and you said you checked
your BIOS and wireless IS enabled, have you checked that Network Discovery
is enabled? I can only assume so because of support calls to HP and MS, but
just thought I'd ask...

Also, if you're not already chasing this down in vista.networking_sharing
you should probably post this over there.

I don't want to insult you or anything, but did you accidentally switch off
networking? My HP laptop has a slider switch for networking on the front of
the laptop and it would be quite easy to turn it off...
