Probably they share some common code, and it has not been named too well

    Silas;
    I noticed that as well.
That update is for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista.
My guess is the person writing, forgot it is Windows Mail in Windows
    Vista.

Sometimes the KB articles are not up right away so its absence now
    means nothing.

The update is legitimate and applies to Windows Vista.

    Peculiar Windows Update...

Hi. I'm viewing the newest updates for my Vista Home Premium and there's one
entitled "Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows Vista
(KB929123)" That struck me as odd because it's my understanding OE won't run
in Vista because it's been fully replaced by Windows Mail.

I went to the Microsoft Knowledge Base and entered that article number and
got this: "There are no documents that match your search for 'KB929123'"

Is this some kind of hacker trick?

    Thanks.

The full name of the article is Security Update for Outlook Express and
Windows Mail. There are separate downloads for each platform. It applies
the Vista. The KB article is available now as is the security bulletin for
    it.
