Microsoft CHAT Support asserts that my PID is incorrect

Shoot-heck ... I'm copying the durned thing right outta the control panel
but Microsoft insists it's just plain wrong. What am I missing here? Do
they just not want to chat with me?

Hi,

Is yours a retail version of Vista or a manufacturers (preinstalled or OEM)?
Support from Microsoft is only for retail, other versions are supported by
the system makers.

Re: Microsoft CHAT Support asserts that my PID is incorrect

Makes total sense, thanks!

They might consider flashing an error message that says, "Hey Mr customer,
your license came from an OEM that probably offers you free support. Check
them out" instead of, "Your PID is not valid, please re-type it until you go
insane"

Thanks again
