| | Can I move/copy a vista partition to the beginning of hard drive I created two partitions when I installed Vista 64 Ultimate. Unfortunately, Vista installed itself in the second partition so I am unable to extend the partition. Is there any way/tool to move/copy the Vista boot partition to the beginning of the hard drive. -- Jack |

There are a lot of people who would take the challenge just to prove it could be done. There's the boot manager to contend with, drive letter, and who knows what else. And most likely 3rd party software involved. Menno (talking thru my hat) -- --- Long live Fat32! --- |

| | Re: Can I move/copy a vista partition to the beginning of hard dri Carey, I build my new computer from components purchased at NewEgg.com. I purchased an OEM version of Microsoft Vista 64 Ultimate. Will I have a license problem if I do a clean reinstall of Vista; ie.. create a new full size single partition and do a full install? Is the number of installs (activations???) on the same machine limited by Microsoft??? Thanks, -- Jack "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote: > No, you'll have to start over and install Vista on the desired partition to begin with. > > -- > Carey Frisch > Microsoft MVP > Windows - Shell/User > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------б*----- > > "jmoskowitz" wrote: > > I created two partitions when I installed Vista 64 Ultimate. | | Re: Can I move/copy a vista partition to the beginning of hard dri You can reinstall your OEM version of Windows Vista as many times as you wish, providing it is installed on the same computer. If you are unable to activate Vista via the internet, then select the option to activate by phone. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User ---------------------------------------------------------------------------б*----- "jmoskowitz" wrote: Carey, I build my new computer from components purchased at NewEgg.com. | | Re: Can I move/copy a vista partition to the beginning of hard dri No, even with the OEM version, you can reinstall / activate as many times as you wish on the same system. If it has been less than 120 days since you last activated that version, you may need to use the telephone option when you activate. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "jmoskowitz" <jmoskowitz6@comcast.net> wrote in message news:F7A9BE06-AFAF-4B40-97EA-29FAD8B55B79@microsoft.com... > Carey, > > I build my new computer from components purchased at NewEgg.com.
