| Guest | Vista not sleeping problem---SOLVED My Dell E521 running Vista Home/ Student Premium has refused to sleep for longer than 30 seconds. Dell was unable to solve and blamed Microsoft. I've tried all the published solutions and workarounds with no success. Changed power management so that only the keyboard would wake the system. My Dell still remained an insomniac. I finally unplugged my network cable from my cable modem and voila.. sleep. Then I found in Device Manager/ Network adapter/advanced, a menu containing 'Wake up capability'. I selected 'None', and that has solved my problem. The caveat is that I can't run the Photos screensaver or sleep won't come, even though I have selected to allow sleep while running multimedia. If someone has this solution, please let me know. -- Harry |
