| | Getting error "usbperf data collection failed" by the hundreds I was pursuing a Windows Live Mail problem, and on Mac's advice in the WLM group, I checked my error log, and found that I am getting "usbperf data collection failed" errors by the hundreds, with the following information; I'm not a Vista or computer expert, and have no idea what this means? Can you help resolve this? Windows Knowledgebase was no help - Thanks for your help, IM - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="usbperf" /> <EventID Qualifiers="49152">2004</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2007-06-15T16:30:56.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>53052</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>MyComputer-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Binary>04000000</Binary> </EventData> </Event> -- USA - Washington State, Kitsap County, City of Poulsbo "Replies welcomed as a sign of good etiquette" Nostradamus 1560 :-) |

| | Re: Getting error "usbperf data collection failed" by the hundreds Imageman There isn't a lot of information on this particular error message, anywhere that I can find? I have also tried to recreate the behavior and have been unable to? The only thing that is known is that it has to do with with USB drives on the system. One user stated that he experienced the problem when he removed an external USB hard disk drive that had been plugged into the system for an extended period. He resolved the problem by plugging the drive back into the system and then removing it using the "Safely remove hardware" app in the Notification Area, by the clock. Tip: When you copy an error message from the Event Viewer, make sure that you include the top part of the details dialog. The "event xmlns" data is useless unless we have access to your system. The top part of the details should look similar to this: ------------------------- Log Name: Application Source: usbperf Date: 4/25/2007 8:40:05 PM Event ID: 2004 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: 1101computer Description: Usbperf data collection failed. Collect function called with usupported Query Type. --------------------------- Please let us know if you find a solution for the problem. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Imageman" <Imageman@snaps.com> wrote in message news:F2763C02-D488-4235-9C00-6A2537E2467F@microsoft.com... >I was pursuing a Windows Live Mail problem, and on Mac's advice in the WLM >group, I checked my error log, and found that I am getting "usbperf data >collection failed" errors by the hundreds, with the following information; >I'm not a Vista or computer expert, and have no idea what this means?
