Files missing from windows\system 32. What should I do?

After running Avanquest's Recovery Commander, I got this report from the
program:
------------------------------------------
Create Recovery Commander Checkpoint

Recovery Commander checkpoint description:
resizing partition t:

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\DEFAULT

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\SAM

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\SECURITY

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\SOFTWARE

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\SYSTEM

Warning
The following file could not be found and was skipped:
C:\Windows\System32\Config\COMPONENTS

Success
The Recovery Commander checkpoint was created.
An associated System Restore checkpoint was created as well.
------------------------------------------

Are the \System32\Config\DEFAULT,SAM,SECURITY,SOFTWARE,SYSTEM and COMPONENTS
files essential? And, if so: Is there some way, they can be recreated
correctly?
Do I perhaps have some kind of bug? (I have the latest Kaspersky AV running
permanently)

Yeah, this sounds like a compatibility problem ... the computer would
not be running without these files.

I thought it said so on their products page, but when I checked it now, it
says:

System Requirements
.. Pentium or better
.. Windows 2000/XP

So both the report and recovery checkpoint are probably unreliable in Vista

=====================================
Doesn't appear to be Vista compatible:
