| Guest | Used to SLEEP properly but now won't wake up For several months my PC was going into sleep mode and would wake up properly when I pushed the power button. Then yesterday it went to sleep and it refused to wake up. I thought it was the PS, it wasn't. I put in a new PS and it still wouldn't wake. Then thought it was the motherboard. I put in a new MB (identical to the old one) but that didn't fix it. To get it to wake up I have to turn off the main power switch on the back of the PS, then push the power button, which briefly flashes the lights and then they go dark. Then I turn the main power switch back on and press the power button and it starts up as a cold boot. I don't recall changing anything but I think, can't be sure, that there may have been some windows updates that got installed about the time this started. |

| Guest | Re: Used to SLEEP properly but now won't wake up Ashton..Just a thought..My Vista system has always gone to sleep with no problems EXCEPT whenever I do a driver update or for that fact even changing the wallpaper will cause the drives to not spin down and the monitor sometimes does and sometimes doesn't sleep....I have gotten used to just going into power options and resetting my choices right back to the same and all is fine...System goes to sleep right on time and wakes up with the flick of the mouse....Seriously this is the only minor glitch or complaint I have had....irritating but as of yet I have not found the cure....If you do please post back !!.........Just my 3 cents.........Drew Intel 2.66 core2 processor Intel D975XBX2 motherboard Twin 160gig Seagate Barracuda's Nvidia 7900 256mg video card 4 gigs of ddr800 Kingston HyperX running Vista Business since Feb 1st with no problems "Ashton Crusher" <demi@moore.net> wrote in message news:qpoa73dj27g43lkg7fhqhnv60i57668811@4ax.com... > For several months my PC was going into sleep mode and would wake up > properly when I pushed the power button. | Guest | Re: Used to SLEEP properly but now won't wake up It wasn't problem making it go to sleep. The problem was waking it up. I had to do a non-standard power on sequence to get it to wake and at that I was forcing it to cold boot instead of actually waking up. Defeats the purpose of sleep. It was such a hassle getting it to reboot I'm afraid to let it go to sleep now. After reading some of the problems with MS needing to get the hardware vendors to write their drivers properly I'm not sure it's worth letting it sleep anyway.
