I installed Vista b2 (public) as an upgrade from XP, but can't get back into
XP and need to. When I select "Earlier Version of Windows" and hit enter -
the screen goes to black and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Did you install Vista as an upgrade to XP or a clean install to a new
partition.
Charlie
Installed as upgrade.

Then you overwrote XP with Vista.

Ouch. That'll leave a mark. Thanks all.

Then you reformat your drive, then use the XP backup image you made
before installing Vista to restore XP, or you unplug the HDD you
installed Vista on and plug your original XP HDD back in.
Sorry but it is not possible to undo Vista without reformatting and
re-installing XP, says so on the tin and in numerous posts throughout
this NG, the Windows Vista Download site does say
"DO NOT INSTALL ON A PRODUCTION PC"
Hope you made backups.
