I installed Vista on a separate disk in order to be sure not to get any
interferences with my normally used XP. The network adapter (ASUSTeK/Broadcom
440x 10/100 Integrated Controller) worked without problems, but after
shutting down the computer the indicator LED on the network adapter lit off,
which it never did before. After having removed the Vista disk and returning
to XP, it said there were no cable connected (which was wrong of course) and
the network was not available any more. First I did not find any possibility
to make the network adapter working again under XP (all setup parameters
seemed reasonable), until I booted the computer with an Ubuntu Linux Live CD,
by which the network adapter was revived. It remained working after shutdown,
and now it continued working under XP.
