    Dlink

    hey guys

i have a dlink wireless network card, Dwl 520+
the first time i installed vista beta 2 it worked perfectly

i have just done another install, but it does not work at all, saying that i
cannot connect to the networks as the capibility of the adapter does not
reach the requirements of the network

i have updated to the latest drivers

this card works on my windows 2005 media centre xp which is installed on the
    same machine

does anyone have any ideas why this card worked the first time, not this
    time? thanks

the only thig i can think of, is that the first time i installed vista, it
was an upgrade and the device was already working

this time it was a fresh install

maybe when i have time i will trying installing another copy of windows xp,
install the device / drivers, then doing and upgrade and see if it helps

That is very possible. The driver may work but installation could be
    blocked.

Re: Dlink - repair network adapter with Linux

I installed Vista on a separate disk in order to be sure not to get any
interferences with my normally used XP. The network adapter (ASUSTeK/Broadcom
440x 10/100 Integrated Controller) worked without problems, but after
shutting down the computer the indicator LED on the network adapter lit off,
which it never did before. After having removed the Vista disk and returning
to XP, it said there were no cable connected (which was wrong of course) and
the network was not available any more. First I did not find any possibility
to make the network adapter working again under XP (all setup parameters
seemed reasonable), until I booted the computer with an Ubuntu Linux Live CD,
by which the network adapter was revived. It remained working after shutdown,
and now it continued working under XP.

    RE: Dlink

I also have a D-Link 520 Wireless. I had to do a clean install dual boot
since the DVD wouldn't run in XP, and am also having problems with the
driver. I went through the driver search process, it found the driver on the
drive with WinXp but wouldn't install it saying the .inf was corrupt or
    invalid.

    RE: Dlink

I am also running a Dlink 520 wireless card, and have a similar issue. For
some reason the Vista DVD wouldn't run in XP, I kept getting a invalid
autorun.dll error message, so I had to a boot clean install to my secondary
drive. Vista identifies the card correctly, and eventually found a driver for
the card when I told it to search the C drive (XP Install) but said it
couldn't install the driver because it was corrupt or invalid.

    RE: Dlink

I ran the setup once and it stopped with an error saying it could not load
some net***.dll. Then a moment later the DLINK installer finished like
everything went fine and asked me to reboot

Upon reboot I didn't get anything. So I reran the installer again. Still
    nothing.

I then went to the device manager and saw where windows saw the device but
had an error saying the driver was not installed. So I right clicked and went
thru the update driver process from there. Now windows saw it but it was not
    working yet.

Then I just pulled the card out and slid it right back in hot. It then
pciked it up and I had to go into Windows networking to find my network and
plug in the keys and all is fine now. Although the DLink strength meter still
display it as no device found.

So I would go into your device manger and see if it even sees the hardware
under network adapters. If not run the update drivers otherwise pulled the
card out and put it back in. I am not positive but I think my Model is a
    G650M. It is a 11G Mimo card.
