Help! My system has the irregular beating of the Telltale Heart

I just installed Vista Ultimate onto an ASUS P5K-Deluxe motherboard-based
system. Now the strange thing that's presenting the problem:

Every 7-20 seconds (no regular period - it ranges) my system's speakers
output 2 approximately 100-150Hz tones that sound like the Lub-dub sound of a
heartbeat heard thru a stethoscope.

I can't figure out what system process is causing these sounds.
Furthermore, when I'm playing an MP3 file, the lub-dub causes a drop-out
sound glitch in the music.

Any diagnostic, troubleshooting suggestions and recommendations are greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Does anything on your setup have a microphone or are you wearing a wireless
headset, either one could be the source of the issue.

No mic or wireless, but there are cordless phones in the room - one within 2
feet of the computer and powered speakers.

I'd try moving them away and turning them off and see what happens. You
need to start looking around for what might be interfering.

Re: Help! My system has the irregular beating of the Telltale Heart

Do you have a cell phone anywhere near the speakers? Specifically a Cingular
cell phone? I had this problem also and found out that it was my phone that
was the culprit.
