| Guest | Re: Nvidia or ATI? Recent released products for both work about the same...regardless of choice pay attention to updates available from either chipset's manufacturer web site since graphics drivers for Vista in an evolution in terms of compatibility. This link provides additional info or links to WDDM capable graphic chips(GPU) that would support Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/w.../aa905088.aspx Note: functionality in Vista is also proportional to the user's hardware and choice of software none of which is currently known from your post. ...winston "Brian W" <brian.wescombeSODOFF@ntlSPAMworld.com> wrote in message news:Kqgei.2138$_14.1461@newsfe2-gui.ntli.net... : Thinking of getting a new graphics card, which is considered best for Vista : in terms of compatibility, drivers etc? : : Thanks in advance! : |

| Guest | Re: Nvidia or ATI? I bought a Nvidia 6600 and have been having problems with it "losing" desktop icons until I refresh the desktop (then I have to reposition them from the top left corner, where they're moved to after recovering them), and occasionally changing the size of desktop icons "on its own." I've downloaded the latest drivers and that's helped, but not solved the problem completely. Other than that, it seems OK. I have read, however, then Nvidia is having some problem getting its Vista drivers "right." I don't know how the later Nvidia cards work; they may be better. But if I had it to do over again, I'd go ATI again. Definitely ATI Is The Best (Nvidia Has Practically Discontinued Support For Every Thing, Except The Nvidia GeForce 8 Series), Which Is Way Too Expensive For People Like Me (My Only Income Coming In Right Now Is SSDI), Just FYI. | Guest | Kevin Panzke Syndrome - Just FYI The Kevin Panzke Syndrome is a term used when a person has certain limitations in mental functioning and in skills such as communicating, taking care of him or herself, and social skills. These limitations will cause a poster to learn and develop more slowly than a typical poster. Former Postal Employees with Kevin Panzke Syndrome may take longer to learn to speak, walk, and take care of their personal needs such as dressing or eating. They are likely to have trouble learning in school, and posting to Microsoft newsgroups. They will learn, but it will take them longer. There may be some things they cannot learn. They keep trying. Make sure to continue your Meds. Just FYI. That said, either card has it's share of problems. Pick the one that works for you. Maybe check out extremetech.com or anandtech.com for reviews. Best-a-luck, Andy |

| Guest | How would you know? How would someone with your mental capacity know what ATI and Nvidia is? Just FYI? | Guest | Re: How would you know? Just his opinion, and he is entitled to share his opinion isn't he? Hmm? I see you didn't include anything useful in your post. As far as on topic: Right now, if you want the best, the NVIDIA cards are the best for DX10 cards. Their drivers have gotten a lot better, are faster than ATI's cards, and are generally cheaper cost. ATI has great cards, but it seems this round they suffer from too little, too late. But, no matter where you ask, you will get the fans from both sides telling you that one is better than the other. My suggestion: pick your budget, interface (probably PCI-e, but SLI/Crossfire), features you want. And look at both sides. Read some reviews on those cards, and make an educated choice from there. ATI just released some new cards, but performance vs. cost, NVIDIA is faster for a bit less money. As far as drivers, I think that NVIDIA's really have matured for their cards, and would actually pick one up now. 4 months ago, I wouldn't even touch an NVIDIA card with Vista. | Guest | Re: How would you know? I Strongly Disagree (I Recently Got Rid Of My Nvidia GeForce 6800, After Nvidia Discontinued Support For It, I Now Have An ATI Radeon X700 In My Older Dell 8400 Desktop Computer, And An Ati Radeon X1300 In My Newer Gateway DX420B Computer), Just FYI. P.S. ATI Releases Monthly Device Driver Updates For Anything And Everything That Is Ati Radeon 9000 Series And Newer, Just FYI.
