| | Denied Permission to Folders I am a new user to Vista (one week) and today I found that three folders have check marks on the folder symbol. The three folders are: My Music My Pictures My Videos When trying to open any of these folders I get a message, "You do not have permission to access this folder." Click continue and then I get another message --- You have been denied permission to access this folder. To gain access to this folder you will need to use the "Security Tab". Then I get another window that list Group of Users Names. I selected everyone and clicked edit.and then click allow followed by OK.. After doing these item I am confused. I did go to the properties of the folder and changed the Read Only, however it did not take. How do I give myself permission to these files? I am lost and in over my head. Any help would be appreciated. Bquinn |

| | Re: Denied Permission to Folders Those are not folders. They are junctions points that direct certain legacy software installation programs to the real locations. These are normally hidden and should be left alone. Do not try to change them or delete them. In Vista, the "My" has been dropped. Your files should be located in Music, Pictures & Videos "WQuinn" <wquinn1@tampabay.rr.com> wrote in message news:#$WqzDDuHHA.576@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >I am a new user to Vista (one week) and today I found that three folders >have check marks on the folder symbol. | | Re: Denied Permission to Folders Thanks Dave for the information. My system is Vista Ultimate and those "My" titles came from a desktop using XP. Each evening I use a program to copy some files to backup data files on the new laptop. Both computers have the same data files in the most part. Again -- thanks.
