| | Re: installation problem Hi, Is there any drive activity, even if it's intermittent? If so, then it is probably progressing, allbeit slowly. Remember, this is a beta product and not everything functions correctly. I've had a few installs, particularly on 3-4 year old hardware, that took more than 3 hours to complete and often appeared stalled. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "windows vista install stalls" <windowsvistainstallstalls@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:57CFABC7-C945-46D4-B476-060A597FEF37@microsoft.com... > after copying files windows restarts and then stalls on the boot screen > what can i do |

| | Re: installation problem It would also be helpful, potentially, to know what hardware you are running on. As for trying to get the install running faster, most of the install hangs and slowdowns occur during the phase when Vista is trying to determine hardware and drivers. You might have better luck with the initial install if you pull any non-essential PCI cards out of the computer before doing the install. After the install is complete you can add the cards back in one by one to hopefully find the one that is causing you grief. Of course, I am assuming that you are working with a desktop system. You might try alt-tabbing when it seems hung to see if there are any error messages being hidden behind the install screeen as well.
