Should I uninstall office 2007 if I don't plan on using it?

I used 2007 during the trial period and have decided I don't want to buy it.
I am using a different program for those needs.

My questions: should I uninstall it since I won't be using it? Will it
prevent me from accessing word documents that I already have on my computer?
(the non microsift program I am using recognizes these documents and opens
them up)

I bought my computer in 2007. It is a satelitte A135-S4467.

Thank you,
Karen

Re: Should I uninstall office 2007 if I don't plan on using it?

If I am not mistaken.. when the trial ends office goes into what is called
"reduced functionality mode"...

this means that all the office applications work in VIEWER mode only ..

for example you can see a DOC, DocX, or XLS file, but you cannot change
it...

Office is a big program and takes up lots of space... if you need the space
uninstall it..

there are new simple viewers for DOCX (the new file of word) and XLSX
that you can download for free...

and you would need those ONLY if someone sends you files in the new format,
OR if you have already created files in DOCX

If you don't need the HDD space, I suggest you just leave it installed.
It will still open any Office extension document.

If you install office, you won't be able to open or access the word
documents already on your computer. You can use the free Word viewer,
available at the Office Website:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/do...863161033.aspx

If you wish to make changes or otherwise edit the document, that requires
Word or the Open Office equivalent.

Aside from that aspect of your question, you can certainly uninstall Office
2007 Trial from your system.

Karen;
Similar to any other program.
If it is not needed and you forsee no need, by all means uninstall it.
Since it seems you already have adequate programs, there is no reason
for you to keep Microsoft Office.

The OP said that the Trial is expired in so many words. How in the world is he going to use it to open any Office extensions as you posted.

If you have a solution for this you using an expired Trial version you will be a master of computer know how. -

Sorry I forgot to add. Viewing them will be available only on certain formats but you cannot change or edit anything in them. If you have a workaround for that then let us know
