Vista - cannot connect to wifi hotspots

cannot connect to wifi hotspots

I can find the networks but it says my network is not properly configured, so
it will not connect. my wifi at work and home work fine.
i have vista ultimate and a thinkpad T60. Can someone help?

At home your network is "Private". Outside, your network should be
"Public". Thinkpads normally come with a very handy IBM/Lenovo program
to access multiple networks easily. I believe it is called "Access
Connections" but I only have an older TP w/XP on it so you'll need to
check yours.
