    ReadyBoost

Since setting up ReadyBoost in Win Vista Home Prem. my boot time has doubled
and the computer seems to be bogged down. Any specific reason why?

Yes, ReadyBoost is about the most useless thing next to Vista to ever be
    released by Microsoft.

It's actually not a bad idea in concept. Just works out really horribly in
reality due to the limitations how flash memory works and due to the much
    lower available bandwidth.

    Reasons are pretty simple:

As stated above, available bandwidth to move data is far lower than that
of a hard drive. So it can't read / write as much data per second. While
reading from Flash memory is fast, writing to flash memory is much slower
than writing to a hard drive. Flash has to write in much larger sector
sizes than a hard drive does, especially on larger sized flash modules.

Just look at one real world example. Ever write files to a USB Stick?
Notice how significantly longer it takes than it would to write the same
files to a hard drive? So seeing how that is slower than a hard drive, how
is putting the swap file on there supposed to be faster than putting it on
    a hard drive? It isn't.

In "theory", if you only read from flash and never need to read more than
the bandwidth can provide, it can be faster than a hard drive. Now in
reality though, how often does this actually happen?

You're far better off adding more RAM to your system than messing around
    with ready boost.
