| | How to uninstall Windows Vista components I work everyday with windows vista, but as I did with WinXP, there are some components that comes after installing that I no longer or never used so I used the "Add/Remove programs" option in WinXP to uninstall some of those components. I'd like to do the same on Windows Vista but I did not found the way. I'd like to uninstall/remove some components like Windows Media Center or PhotoGallery or Windows Movie Maker that I will never use. Is there any way to remove this components? Thanks, @mt! ==== |

| | Re: How to uninstall Windows Vista components Hello calamar, If you don't find it via programs and features, turn windows features on or off i think you will have no safe way without playing around in the system what i strongly recommend NOT to do. Maybe you can disable some services to stop the running of some programs. I tried that option but there's no way to uninstall some features or "on install" apps like some I said before (Windows Media Center, Photo Gallery, Windows Movie Maker, Backup utility, Sincro. center, Windows Sidebar, ....). Any other way? Thanks, @mt! ==== |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: How to uninstall Windows Vista components Those are all part of Vista, and Vista will not let them be uninstalled. It considers them part of the system. There is another way to turn some off, but it involves disabling some Services. Here is a link that explains each service and has 3 sets of recommendations on which ones to disable. http://www.speedyvista.com/services.html Hope this helps, Shawn Last edited by Brink; 07-09-2007 at 05:10 PM.. |

| | Re: How to uninstall Windows Vista components Calamar The 3 programs you mentioned, Media Center,PhotoGallery, and Movie Maker cannot be uninstalled or disabled. They are part of the OS. You can simply not run them. Remove the shortcuts for these programs from the Start Menu or wherever else they may exist. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "calamar" <amtcreations@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1183970330.400656.147060@22g2000hsm.googlegroups.com... >I work everyday with windows vista, but as I did with WinXP, there are > some components that comes after installing that I no longer or never > used so I used the "Add/Remove programs" option in WinXP to uninstall > some of those components. > > I'd like to do the same on Windows Vista but I did not found the way. > I'd like to uninstall/remove some components like Windows Media Center > or PhotoGallery or Windows Movie Maker that I will never use. > > Is there any way to remove this components? > > Thanks, > > @mt! > ==== > |

| | Re: How to uninstall Windows Vista components I find it SAD and PATHETIC that Microsoft doesn't allow you to truly customize Vista by forcing users to have standard software that they will never use on their system. At least with Apple you can remove the software and with Linux you can customize into another Operating System. The future of Microsoft Operating Systems look like a 3rd World autocratic / totalitarian government; we can do no wrong!
