Vista - Movie Maker crashing when publishing a movie!

Hi,

I just spend half a day editing a video and saved the result in a
mswmm project. The problem is that i cannot seem to be able to
publish the movie. Movie Maker stops working and reboots. It should
have something to do with incompatible codecs, but even when i
deselect ALL of them in Movie Maker / Tools / Options, even then, the
application crashed when publishing.


Can anyone help me get this project published by fixing the codec
thing in MM?
Or is it possible to open this Windows Vista MSWMM project in another
video editing application?

Movie Maker can publish to many different formats for example,
a web site
a DVD
a computer hard disk
etc etc

Also it will create a AVI or WMV file

Try to publish your project to a different format/file and see what
happens.
Also make sure you have all the associated files to your project still
in the original locations they were when you created the project.

I doubt any other video editing program will open a Movie Maker Project
file.

Does Movie Maker stop/restart, or is restarting the whole system?

Hello,

i have exactly the same problem, but nothing in the "Problems Report and
solutions center".

I tried many solutions founds at different places, but no succes.

If somebody can help.... Would be so appreciated !!!! tks.

Patrick, you know what has been said so far but someone like me who just
dropped by doesn't, also it would help to know what the details of your
machine are since it's unlikely to be exactly the same in every respect
to anything already mentioned. I probably can't offer much help for this
question but someone here might spot a clue given more detail. Is there
any error message etc?

Are you actually getting a crash? Any crash should be creating an event in
both the Event View and the Problem Reports and Solutions Center. If it's
not crashing, it wouldn't do that, and you may be seeing some other
behavior.

HOW do you make avi files on Movie Maker??? I can only get wmv and then I
have to use convert program to make mpg...
