Help, Vista's firewall started to work with outbound traffic, and I
don't know how to stop it!!!!!

I don't know why, but as a result of this, my computer has become very
slow. How can I return to the standard firewall inbound traffic check
only?

Is this a free application recommended in the last issue of PC World
to control Vista's firewall? If it is, yes, but I didn't have the time
to use it.

Vista Firewall Control will ask you to approve outbound traffic. That is
what it is all about. Just say "allow all", or allow always and you will not
be bothered for that program again.

You can set by going Control Panel/Security Centre and chose the firewall
reset link.

What are you talking about?

A firewall always works with outbound traffic. The programs running on the
computer that communicate over the Internet to another program are always
sending outbound traffic.

It sounds to me like you have malware running on the machine that's sending
dubious outbound traffic, it's slowing the machine down, you need to find it
and remove the malware.

I solved the problem uninstalling that program, *AND* restoring the
system to the state immediately previous to its installation.

The Firewall returned to its "inbound traffic only" status, like
originally in Vista or XP.

Sorry Arnold, but you are wrong. WinXP firewall checks, by design,
inbound traffic only, as also does Vista firewall in its default
configuration, as set by Microsoft.

Juan, you are wrong. Go to control Panel, security, Windoes Firewall> Allow a
program to go out.

And XP was like it too.

You want to show me where I said anything about the FW stopping outbound
traffic.

The FW doesn't stop outbound traffic by design. A FW by default stops all
unsolicited inbound traffic by design. If a FW is to stop outbound traffic,
if it has those capabilities, then rules have to be set to stop the
outbound, because by design, there are no default rules for a FW to stop
outbound traffic.
