| | Re: Can't move toolbars out of taskbar??? To make a floating toolbar in Vista, sumply drag a folder to the edge of the desktop, then drag it to the middle of the desktop. | | Re: Can't move toolbars out of taskbar??? Ian, As The Pro said you absolutely CAN make new toolbars and move them out of the Taskbar area to any other side of the screen. I have done that on multiple pc's. However, as of this writing I still have not figured out the Vista problem. Figures that Microsoft's wisdom is such that they take that feature away. Why do I need new toolbars clogging up the Taskbar? Answer is I DONT. |

| | Re: Can't move toolbars out of taskbar??? Dave, and all else following this thread. The folder trick works to create a toolbar along the edge, however, if you then delete the source folder from the desktop it also takes any shortcuts you dragged to the new toolbar/folder. Instead, what I do is create folder in My Document, or Documents in Vista, called My Toolbars. I then create subfolders in there for each type of toolbar I want, such as Games, or Programs, Email, etc. Now, drag each one of those folders to the edge of the screen and there will be your toolbar. You can drag other folders to the same edge (ok, I have not actually tried this yet, but it worked in XP) or other edges of the screen . Now you don't have the source folder floating around the desktop. Finally, just customize the toolbar such as Show Title or Icon text, or autohide. -- Rommy "Dave Cox" wrote: Quote: > "Ian Betts" <igb123@xxxxxx> wrote in > news:#UEwVCfxHHA.3684@xxxxxx: > Quote: > > I an writing this in XP.
