Windows Activation

This morning there were 2 updates applied to my Vista Ultimate and now I am
getting a hardware change notification and am being required to re-activate
my product. It is suppose to expire in 2 days. When I try to re-activate, I
get "Product ID already in use", and it suggest I purchase another Key code.
I did not change any hardware on my pc.

processor - AMD 4200+ dual core
mobo - ASUS A8NE
RAM - 2gigs
Video - XFX GeForce7800GT Express
HDD #1 - Maxtor 74 gig Raptor @ 10,000 rpm
HDD #2 - Maxtor 250 gig @ 7800 rpm

Re: Windows Activation

You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
in the search field in the Start Menu and pressing Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes.

If you're tired of being accused of theft over and over again, why don't
you check out Open Source? No WPA, no WGA, no virus or malware worries
and it's FREE. Check out Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com or PCLinuxOS at
http://www.pclinuxos.com/

Re: Windows Activation

Thanks Carey, it worked. But I am still not sure why I had to re-activate
the OS when it has been installed for months and no hardware changes at all,
just the updates applied this morning. Thanks for the info and help.

Just a guess, the updates you installed included some change to a
hardware driver and it reported itself as a new device maybe?

Yet more proof that MS's buggy DRM only inconveniences paying customers.
It should give you an 800 number to call for activation. You'll have
to call them and tell them what happened to you.
