Windows Vista with Norton and McAfee

Which one of the two programs is working better with Windows Vista these
days: Norton or McAfee?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows Vista with Norton and McAfee

Its personal choice really but both IMHO are large applications and they do
tend to take over operations on your computer and slow down some while they
scan. I use Panda Titanium but MOD32 comes top on all virus lists.

My 2 cents worth. I get my McAfee through my ISP.

Desktop anti-virus/malware and Firewall. $AU9.90/month.

My anti-virus (believe it or not) even picks up any
Trojans before the email is downloaded, and advises
me so. (Others will say that it has to be downloaded before
anti-virus will pick it up. True ! however, through my ISP
and their protection + McAfee on my desktop, it works
perfectly.)
The firewall is much more friendly in so much as you
control it. not the other way around.

It's a matter of preference....I'm sticking with McAfee.

Neither. Both are hogs and should be avoided. Try NOD32, Kaspersky, or AVG
for a much smaller, less imposing footprint on the system.

Re: Windows Vista with Norton and McAfee

AVG is free but without all the research done on current virus attack like
the paid options.

RE: Windows Vista with Norton and McAfee

Avast Free 4 Home is perfectly compatible with Vista, and is not a resource
hog.

Rick,
I'm a MOD at McAfee help forums and I don't disagree with you. However,
McAfee is releasing new products soon that have radically reduced the "hog
factor."
They are being beta tested as we speak.

Re: Windows Vista with Norton and McAfee

Neither. Both cause significant problems for Vista, and especially for
Windows Mail. I use Avast 4 (free at www.avast.com). If you prefer paying
for an anti-virus get NOD32 (www.eset.com).

These are the two *worst* security products on the market, in my view. Try
Avast! or AVG instead. Both are freeware and much better.
