Vista mail in Comcast.net

I have recently set up a new computer that has Vista Home on it. The user
tells me when she goes to her home page of her ISP (Comcast.net) she was
able to click on the mail tab and it would open Outlook Express on her old XP
computer. Is there a way to set up the new mail in Vista to work the same
way OE did with her ISP home page.
Thanks.

Re: Vista mail in Comcast.net

Why would you want to open Mail like that. Seems a long winded way to open a
mail client on your computer.

Re: Vista mail in Comcast.net

I don't know how to do it via the Comcast webpage, she'll have to ask them
that...

In IE7, you can add a button to the toolbar to open your default mail
program...

Right-click on a blank area of the Toolbar, select "Customize Command Bar",
select "Add or Remove Commands"
select "Read Mail" on the left, and click Add->

Re: Vista mail in Comcast.net

I have never seen that behavior. As she is accessing the web interface for
her Comcast email account it should not open OE. The email icon link is
coded into the site as http://www.comcast.net/qry/goto?app=mail&CM.src=top
and cannot be changed by anyone other than the sites webmaster.

Re: Vista mail in Comcast.net

You can set up Windows Mail just as OE is setup. Then the Mail button in IE
will open WinMail.
