| | Windows Vista Continuously Reboots After Software Installation I installed TortoiseSVN client on my Vista laptop yesterday, and it had me reboot. Now it will continuously reboot once it gets to the login screen. Even if I try to login quickly, it tells me my password is incorrect and proceeds to reboot again (it reboots even if I don't try to login and just leave it alone). I can boot with "Last Known Good Configuration" just fine. All my programs are there and everything works like it should, eve TortoiseSVN. But, the next time I reboot, it goes back into its endless reboot cycle. How can I make the "Last Known Good Configuration" stick, or otherwise fix this problem. Just an FYI, I have run the diagnostics from the boot menu and it didn't find anything wrong. Thank you! Brian |

I suggest you boot off the Vista install DVD and do a restore that way, prior to the introduction of this software to the system, that's if the machine is saving Restore Points; it's enabled. |

| | Re: Windows Vista Continuously Reboots After Software Installation Boot with Last Known Good Configuration and uninstall TortoiseSVN. To troubleshoot the problem at the same menu where you pick Last Known Good Configuration pick Disable automatic restart on system failure. Instead of rebooting you should get a BSOD. The error message will aid in troubleshooting. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "Brian" <brian_barnes_@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:ufNfyURyHHA.3772@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I installed TortoiseSVN client on my Vista laptop yesterday, and it had me >reboot. | | Re: Windows Vista Continuously Reboots After Software Installation Thanks for the reply. I tried disabling automatic restart, but it didn't change anything, so that didn't help. Even after uninstalling TortoiseSVN, it didn't change anything. I had to revert to a previous restore point after booting Last Known Good Config, and that finally got me back to a working computer. I guess I'll just have to wait for a software update and try it again. Thanks again.
