| | Deleted my Recently Changed file, how do I get it back? I saw my recently changed folder and thought that it was a duplicate file so I deleted it. Turns out this contained almost all of my photos and they are now gone. I believe they are still somewhere and the capacity on my hard drive has not changed. Also, when I highlight a image it has a thumbnail. But when I try to open it it says the file has been deleted or moved. Can I retrieve these from anywhere and if so how? They are not in the recycle bin. Thanks -- c |

| | Re: Deleted my Recently Changed file, how do I get it back? Look in the Recycle Bin. If not there then try Control Panel, Backup and Restore Center, Restore Files and follow the bouncing ball. -- The personal opinion of Gary G. | | Re: Deleted my Recently Changed file, how do I get it back? If you deleted the "Search Folder" called "Recently Changed" inside the "C:\Users\(Your Name)\Searches" folder, you actually deleted "Recently Changed.search-ms", which has a super-hidden file extension, much like a shortcut (.lnk). Deleting that file won't delete your recently changed items, just like deleting a shortcut won't delete the program it points to. It basically deletes a saved search; it is not a File Folder (also called a directory). If, however, you opened the Recently Changed search folder, and deleted the items shown within it, then those items, such as pictures, will actually be deleted from your computer, at whatever location they might be. You should get a Recycle bin "Are you sure you want to..." confirm-dialog when you do this. If you did a "Select All" and then deleted them en masse, the amount of space allocated for the Recycle Bin may have been exceeded, in which case you'll be asked if you want to permanently delete those files, and they wont be seen in the Recycle Bin. By default, photos are usually saved in the "C:\Users\(Your Name)\Pictures" folder. Have you looked in that folder for your files? In what folder or program are you "highlighting" images? If you are using Windows Photo Gallery, by right-clicking the image, can you choose Open File Location?
