| | Removing items from context menu Several items have installed themselves on the context menus that appear when you right click on the desktop, or on a file. With Windows XP, I used TweakUI to get rid of them. Where in the Vista registry do I look to find these "uninvited" visitors to remove them? |

If they are related to a program, check the program's options to see if you can turn the added context item off first. Look at this location in the registry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellx\ContextMenuHandlers You can use this link as a guide to look at. | | Re: Removing items from context menu Well, for example, I have a Zen Vision M MP3 player that has its own software. When I right click on any file on folder, there are 2 options that say, Copy to Creative Zen Vision M. I recently updated the video card driver in the laptop and now, when I right click anywhere on the desktop, the very top item is the ATI Catalyst Control Center. I like to keep things streamlined and loathe anything that arbitrarily adds itself to a menu with a checkbox in its options to turn it off. For ATI Catalyst Control Center, just uninstall it from Programs and Features leaving just the driver itself. When you install the ATI driver, check Custom and uncheck Control Center from the installation list. This will get rid of that right click. I do not know on the other item. May be something similar.
