| | Ipod Nano and Vista I'm unable to get drivers to connect my Ipod NANO to Vista Ultimate... Are these compatible with each other? Do I need to download drivers? If so, does anyone know where? Thanks in advance. G |

| | Re: Ipod Nano and Vista Hi G-- The main point is for you to tell us precisely what's happening when you try to install the newest Itunes onto Vista. You shouldn't need drivers to use your Nano with Vista any edition. Exactly what is happening when you try to install Itunes? What error are you getting. Once you do you should ck out this MSKB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933824/ Some use this but I have never needed to through the Beta and now with RTM: http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/indexWin.html Some use ephpod. One tip though that could help, is that when you dock the IPod to the box, switch the Ipod to Manual and Disk mode, and then switch the drive letter of the Ipod or Nano to one away from C-I. This helps some people with Vista or XP when they can't get the Ipod recognized at Computer or My Computer or Disk Management. The reason for this is Drives C-I are reserved to recognized devices, and sometimes an external drive with its own power supply--an Ipod or even the Nano which is a battery powered flash drive that will be seen as a USB device . I think if you're avoiding Vista to use an Ipod, there is no reason whatsoever or avoiding an Ipod to use Vista whichever. They work great for me together. Vista has it's problems, but ipod isn't one of them I consider. | | Re: Ipod Nano and Vista The iTunes MUST be the newest version. I've installed Vista Ult. a month ago, and it was a fresh install. I've installed iTunes during that time when I downloaded from Apple. iTunes installation went without errors. After that it asked to restart. I did so. After restarting I started iTunes, as when I had XP Pro, I connected Nano to the chord and it said it's looking for drivers for my hardware(hardware found). Later it gave me an option to look for drivers online. I chose that. Then it asked if I had the cd for the hardware. When I clicked NO, it said Your hardware was not installed correctly. Where did I mess up? | | Re: Ipod Nano and Vista I believe I already responded to your problem elsewhere but here it is again. I'm sure you are running Vista 64 bit and there is a driver INF file missing from Vista 64 that is present in Vista 32 bit. Call Apple tech support and ask for "escalation" to someone who uinderstands device drivers. Try 1-800-275-2273 and ask them for the name of the .inf file and can they supply them. I don't remember the file names.
