Dunno how important the "open source" criterion is to you, but ... ping,
traceroute, nslookup and netstat are built-in commands in Windows. Just go
to a command prompt and enter the commands. No additional software is
required.

Whois is a free download from the SysInternals page at microsoft.com:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...ing/whois.mspx

NetMon is a very full-featured network sniffer. It is a free download from
Microsoft:
Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Fairly equivalent to NetMon, but non-Microsoft, is the excellent Ethereal:
http://www.ethereal.com

Hope it helps,

You don't to have network tools like that running locally. There are many
websites with those functions. The one I use is actually called 'Network
Tools'.
