Vista - View and copy document content without opening the document

Hello

From Start > Computer > Windows Explorer > Organize > Layout > click Preview
Pane I'd like to see a Word document in preview pane without opening the
Word program but I get the message :

" Microsoft Office Word has stopped working - A probelm caused the program
to stop working correctly. Windows will close the progeam and notify you
if a solution is available. "

I wait for it but no solution is offered. So how best can I fix this error.
I use Vista Ultimate and Word 2007. Thank you.
